Darren,
have you ever fixed it?
We are facing it too a few months now and have no solution.
The W2k16 kb from november 2020 didn't fix the issue. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/outlook-stuck-on-topforeground-issue-is/221b03a5-c17d-4c46-a8f5-0d01a4f6bf57?page=2
Also patched our servers with the latest february kb and office patches. Nothing helps.
Outlook start with safe:3 (no add-ins) not fixing it.
Tried also a office repair.
It's not affecting all of our users, only a few. I cannot reproduce it with my user.
I've also seen this foreground stuck issue on a notebook with only local applications where explorer.exe stucked in foreground.

Hi Rhonda,
thank you for the detailled answer.
I've managed to create a solution for the requirements. I've configured AAA Groups and Session profiles / policys and bound them to the groups. Some groups geht direct access to Receiver for Web with ica only on, others will geht the clientless access home page with bookmarks for all the sites they need to open.
Thank you once again.

Hi all,
I'm using a Citrix Gateway with a drop-down on the login page (created by rewrite policy), where users can choose which environment / Citrix site they need. This selection is captued in a cookie and the user is redirected to the appropriate Citrix site by session policy / profile based on the decision made. This two sites reside in different domains.
My goal for the future would be:
- 1 single external url as we current use
- users log in and get a homepage presented with all applications and desktops which they are permitted for. If a user exists in both domains he gets all the apps from both sites.
- on this homepage they should also see rdp links if they are permitted for.
I've thought about unified gateway to get there where I want. I've created one in my test environment but I'm unaware how i can get a homepage as I'd like to have.
Is it possible to create something I'm looking for?

We've get bnistack event id 85, [MIoWorkerThread] IOS Socket UNAVAILABLE - not counting retry on our W10 1809 virtual desktops with PVS 1912 CU1. No issues on our vda server os 2016. Both use the same pvs servers and the same target device version (1912 CU 0).
We use Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.3 as well.

I've called Citrix and they delivered me a privat fix (replace SelfService.exe and InstallerLib.dll in SelfServicePlugin directory).
The fix is scheduled for 1912 CU3 and new CR release as Citrix told me.

Tested old workspace app 1909 and 1911. Pinned icons are kept with them. The issue starts with workspace app 1912 CU 0.

more tests done.
Selfservice.exe removes all fta icons from taskbar with version 1912 and up.
reg key reusestubs not helping.

Hi all
we've updated Citrix Workspace 1907 to 1912 CU1. Some of our customers report now that pinned office Citrix published apps disappear from their taskbar. It affects only office applications, e.g. Google Chrome and others pinned to taskbar are kept. While analyzing this I've noticed that the office links are moved from %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar to a subfolder called Tombstones. I've never heard about that.
It happens while users are working or if they relogin to their computers or if they restart their computers.
Tested with no luck so far:
Reset Workspace App
Reinstall Citrix Workspace App
created a new local Windows 10 user profile
Any ideas?
Edit:
I have tested a bit more.
It only affects applications with file type association (content redirection), which are office applications in our site. And it's not happening with Citrix Workspace App 1907. As soon as I click refresh on Workspace App or do a selfservice.exe -poll the fta icons disappear. Procmon shows Selfservice.exe as the one who removes these links in taskbar.
Difference between non-fta and fta icons is:
non-fta command line -> "C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\ICA Client\SelfServicePlugin\SelfService.exe" -launch -reg "Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\....
fta command line -> AppData\Roaming\Citrix\SelfService\MicrosoftWordCitrix.exe -startmenuShortcut

Found it. My dynamic vdisk has a size of 100 gb. I've used a 100 gb disk lazy-zeroed in VMware vsphere for p2pvs. The VMware disk needs to be a little bit bigger in size than the virtual disk, even though the vdisk is only used 50%. I've attached a 110 gb disk lazy-zeroed instead and now it works. Thought 100 gb should be enough since the vdisk has 50% free space.

No it's BIOS, not UEFI. Windows 10. Also tested it with server 2016 (virtual apps) a few minutes ago and it's also not working there. I'll give 2009 a try.

Cannot reverse imaging to update vmware Tools. It worked before PVS 1912. Now p2pvs is not working. It starts the copy job and after 3/4 the following message pops up "volume does not contain a recognized file system. cannot copy boot configuration".
I've tried to use p2pvs from 7.15 CU4, but it also doesn't work.
Any ideas?

Hi,
have you ever solved this?
We are facing issues with Citrix Workspace App. Some users have high latency and RTT with CWA, but with receiver it works normally. Citrix XenApp 7.15 and now with Virtual Apps 1912 CU1 (VDA 1912 CU1).
-
We are using direct connections.

Hi tylital520,
try to use VDA 1906.2000 instead and test if the issue is fixed with it. I'm using 1906.2000 with no issues a few months now.
Last week one of my co-workers installed Citrix Workspace App 1907 on one of our Igel Thin Clients, while our site was still XenApp 7.15 CU1 with server VDA 1906.2000 and the issue also happened. So it seems if either Workspace App or VDA are on a specific level the disconnects happen. For VDa the level has to be 1909 and up. We reinstalled Citrix Receiver 4.9 on the updated Igel and the disconnects stopped.
I cannot find any clues what new feature in VDA and Workspace App could be the culprit.

Hi Raghu,
thank you for your suggestions. I know both articles.
I don't use legacy graphics mode on our server 2016. HW encoding ist default enabled.
I've tested all 3 High DPI settings.
-
no, sadly I didnt. I use VDA 1906.2 for the moment. As I can't reproduce it, I didn't open a support case.

published applications in a Virtual Apps 1912 environment on Win10 HP PCs are flickering. Local applications on the computer didn't flicker, only the published ones are and only if they're not maximized to full screen. Published apps used with full screen size are ok. These users worked from home the last few weeks over our Citrix Gateway with published applications and used their private pcs and they didn't face this problem. As soon as they returned to their office, the issue was back. So it's dependent on the used hardware.
I've tested the following:
- Workspace App 1907, 1912, 1912.1000
- The issue was present before site update to 1912 with XenApp 7.15
- fat client reinstalled
- different pc model
- new local user profile on the pc
- disabled hardware acceleration & h265
- new drivers installed on the hp pcs (especially graphics)
- All 3 settings for High DPI in Workspace App (Yes, No, native)
- Both monitors are set to the same resolution and dpi settings

Error after boot process: "Sign-in process initialization failure. Interactive sign-in process initialization has failed. Please check the event log for details."
Issue exists with XenApp 7.15 CU1 and Virtual Apps 1912.
PVS 1912
Server 2016
WEM 1912
VDA 1906 (because of an issue I can't use VDA 1912. Win7 Embedded Thin Clients are randomly disconnecting).
It affects up to 5 servers of around 80 per week (booting every night).
No errors in event logs.

Hi,
1906.2 is working well. I‘ve tested also VDA 1912 CU1 and 1912 CU1 with rpm.dll from 1906.2, both have disconnects.
I have no clue what´s the cause.
-
Hi rwiedma590,
do your repurposed PCs have dedicated graphics cards?
Our temporary solution is to use VDA 1906.2, as it's the highest possible version without issues. I've used rpm.dll from 1906.2 in a 1912 VDA with no luck.
-
same issues with VDA 1912 CU1.
I suspect that the graphics card of the thin client is being used and the ram is running full. Because of the memory leak the session gets disconnected.
shagen750: Are you still facing the disconnects with your HP ThinPros? Do they have installed graphics cards?

I just saw that Citrix released 1912 CU1 4 days ago.
I will test VDA 1912 CU1.

It happens in both of our sites.
Virtual Apps 1912 CU1 on server 2016
Any other out there with this warnings in logs? Is there a misconfiguration or can I ignore these warnings?
