Application Layer - WITHOUT Platform Layer ?

Hey Guys.

still fairly new to App Layering, just wondering, there is the option to create App Layers WITHOUT a platform layer ?

is this a "Use Case" situation? or should i have not been using Platform Layers when building my App Layers ?

Yes.  When you create an App Layer, the Platform Layer section allows you to choose 'None' (default) or you can choose a platform layer.

is there specific use cases where you would use a platform layer and when not to ? i have found not using a platform layer seems to give greater flexibility - and potential for layer pollution.. but wanted to check if thats the "right way" to do it or not..

Platform layers are primarily for different hardware/hypervisors.  There are only certain items in the Platform layer, but if you are deploying everything to the same hypervisor just create a single platform layer and use that for all your building.

Do you have any software that requires going into the platform layer?
