If use vpx version 11.0 and want to upgrade firmware to 13.1 how can I do?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

If we want to upgrade firmware across versions from 11.0 (Gateway Vip configuration)  to 13.1.

How can I do to upgrade this issue?

We don't dare upgrade across versions because we're worried about problems. But we cannot download version 12.0 from Citrix Web, already.

Can anyone recommend a method?

Citrix Support can provide intermediate versions.

Hi Carl,

We can upgrade firmware from 11.0 to 12.1 and then upgrade to 13.1 or not? I'm worried that if I upgrade across firmware versions The data will be incomplete or fail.

Hello Aunos,

As @CarlStalhood mentioned you can ask for required versions through the support.

Since it is VPX, you can take a full snapshot & backup the VM on the hypervisor level to ensure you are able to revert back if needed.

As an extra measure, you can also compare config files after upgrading to ensure no configuration was missing. Notepad++ Compare Two Files: A Guide - Notepad++

Hi

Yes, is possible to skip 12.0 and 13.0

Remember that from rel 13 (don't remeber the build) and subsequent versions they have removed the classic policies.
Before upgrading to 13 or higher or before importing your configuration in a new installation, you will need to convert your classic policies to advanced policies.
The NSPEPI tool can help you make conversions. Below are some references:

Even though nspepi is a good tool, I would do a snapshot, examine the current configuration (i.e. which policies exist, where are they bound too and some more things like that). I would strongly recommend following Amin's suggestion to do a snapshot first. Even more: I'd clone this snapshot, move it into different networks (to avoid IP address conflicts, most hypervisors support host-only networks) and do the upgrade there. Make sure the MAC address of the first network card is the same as the original VM, or you won't be licensed.
