  1. This is available in 2209 CR versions onwards https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/2209/whats-new.html

    https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/2209/install-configure/machine-catalogs-manage.html#change-the-network-setting-for-an-existing-provisioning-scheme

Checking internally here it is also seems to be requested to be ported over to the  LTSR 2203 CU3 release. We'll need to wait for the release notes to ensure it makes it into this CU.

  2. Hi Rene,

Did you check it combined with the latest CWA  2203.1 CU3 ? https://www.citrix.com/downloads/workspace-app/betas-and-tech-previews/workspace-app-tp-for-windows-LTSR-cu21.html

I see a com port mapping issue fixed here that maybe also related to LPT port mapping. Worth a test.  "COM port redirection might be blocked during session roaming.  [CVADHELP-20959]"

This first appeared to us as COM port mapping failing after customers upgraded the VDA to 2203 but the final fix was on the CWA side in CU3.

I also see that the support case has now been moved to the next level.

  3. Can you try to start the "Print spooler" service manually. "Print spooler" service has to be enabled some of the VDA services depends on print spooler service. Please see the following article. Could be a different variation of this errors seen here.
    https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX331402/unable-to-install-vda-software-error-citrix-universal-print-client-failed-with-error-code-1603

Other cases have shown the antivirus blocking the installer processes.

  4. If Workspace App for windows is not a viable option I believe the underlying issue is the detection of Tablet mode on the HTML5 workspace app and the Surface tablets.

I would recommend making this setting change to see is it suitable for your needs. This setting would be global for all.

Please disable tablet mode by setting "detectTabletMode" to "false" in configuration.js file on storefront server.
The configuration.js file is usually located in C:\program Files\<look for citrix folder>\HTML5Client.
To disable it, edit the configuration.js file as given below.
    'touch' :

    { 'defaultMode' : 'panning', 'detectTabletMode' : false }

Restart storefront services to make the changes effective.

  5. Hi Toru.

Thanks for the extra info. Is there a reason you are using the HTML5 Workspace App ?

I would recommend installing the Workspace App for windows native client and launching your citrix session there.

    https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-workspace-app/citrix-workspace-app-feature-matrix.html

    https://www.citrix.com/downloads/workspace-app/windows/workspace-app-for-windows-latest.html

I will check for reported issues similar to the above with HTML5 Workspace App.

    Hello.
    Please answer my question.
When launching a virtual desktop from Citrix login, the external keyboard (USB or bluetooth) is frequently not recognized.
I have no problem using the keyboard outside of the virtual desktop.
Please let me know the cause.
    PC: surface laptop4, surface laptop5, surface pro8
    Keyboard: any type

    Hi Toru Takayanagi,

A few tests and questions below to narrow this down.

Are you perhaps redirecting the external keyboard devices with USB redirection ? There policies to force redirect USB devices.  Are any of those enabled for users ?
Keyboards should not be redirected in this way so I would recommend disabling as a test.

I noticed also the devices mentioned are all surface Pro. Are they using touch screen and external keyboards together ?

Perhaps the touch keyboard is interfering with the external one. Would try toggling this policy to see does it make a difference. https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX217420/on-mobile-device-onscreen-keyboard-does-not-appear-in-icahdx-session-automatically

And with the tablet mode disabled as a test. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/devices/mobile-devices.html#:~:text=The feature is enabled by,settings to disable the feature.

Are these users using the full Citrix Workspace app on the surface or are they using HTML5 CWA through a browser ?

Does the issue happen when moving from docked to undocked ? We fixed a bunch of issues around this in 1909 releases as the surface dock was a particular type of USB hub.

  7. I also just looked up some more recent cases and perhaps SkipRimsForPrivate is no longer needed in newer versions. Perhaps someone who knows more will comment here if they see this.

The case I looked at states that the RIMS service is the one that decides where the vdisk version is present and decides the streaming server so if SkipRims is set then load balancing only applies and the steam will pick the least loaded server.

So perhaps you have the SkipRimsforPRivate key already from an older version or previous troubleshooting ?

Is there a way to force vDisk maintenance versions to boot to a specific server in a load-balanced environment?

This has become an issue in our environment, since we have an evenly load-balanced PVS farm. When trying to boot/update more than one maintenance VM to a maintenance version of a vDisk, the second VM will often attempt to boot to a secondary server due to the *.avhdx file for the new version only residing on the primary update server. We of course want production level connections to be load-balanced across all PVS servers where the vDisk files have been properly replicated, but for maintenance and updates, this is frustrating to deal with.

    Hi Eric,

I think this is where the SkipRimsforPrivate registry key comes into play. Worth a test, but the stream service needs a restart so perhaps do it out of production time.

    https://discussions.citrix.com/topic/347079-provisioning-services-no-servers-available-for-disks-in-maintenance-mode/page/2/

  9. On their local machine have they modified the .ica files to open with a certain app ?

We should decide to open Desktops with CDViewer and Apps with ICAClient. Seems like dekstops are opening with ICAClient.

Are they using Local Workspace App on their machine to launch or from a browser ?

    image.thumb.png.32cfab2a8c6aac5818af6d6dd13c5333.png

  10. Is there any actual printer issue being reported in the environment ? The "async engine: Not enough preallocated wsa buffer" is not a fatal error.

Is UPServer.exe crashing frequently ? This continuous stream of errors in the XTE logs could suggest the UPServer is failing. I would remove any unnecessary printer drivers and any you need to keep be updated to the latest. Test using https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX142119/citrix-ups-print-driver-certification-tool

Is the print server able to reach all network printers ok ? Maybe there are stale network printers trying to be mapped continuously for all users if they are in the profile or policy to map them.

    Hi all,

how can i delete orphaned Domain in "Citrix clod > Identity and Access Management > domains"

i have deleted Cloud Connector machine and now i have "forest" defined for my domain, without any option to delete it.

    Thank you

Could you open a Citrix Support case and the team can assist in sending it to the right internal team to cleanup the left over forest.

These stale forest/domain details should ideally be deleted automatically after removing the last Citrix Cloud Connector connected to that forest/domain.

I have inherited this Citrix VDI environment hosted on a Nutanix HCI.

I want to find the Master Image of a MCS machine catalog so that I can install some Patches.

below is the output of the get-procscheme command.

    Get-ProvScheme -ProvisioningSchemeUid(Get-BrokerCatalog -Name "MC-XD-2103-DEV-MCS-W10-STATIC").ProvisioningSchemeId | select MasterImageVM

    MasterImageVM

    -------------

    XDHyp:\HostingUnits\CTX_VLAN_234\XDSNAP_CAP_W10DEV_MCS_2103_190921.template

the get-childitem command in the hostingunits lists lot of snapshots but the template I am looking for is missing. I also cannot find any VM in the inventory by such name.

I am able to deploy new VDIs in the catalog.

how do i find out the snapshot and VM for the same.

Could you try a recurse on the exact path to see if it returns.

    ------------------

    Get-ChildItem -Recurse -Path 'XDHyp:\HostingUnits\CTX_VLAN_234\XDSNAP_CAP_W10DEV_MCS_2103_190921.template'

    --------------------

If it doesn't return then I suspect that snapshot\template was deleted after the catalog was created.

During catalog creation or update a copy of that .template is created and sent to each datastore that is configured in the host connection. The VM's that are created are then delta disks that are linked to the each parent disk that exists in those storages.

If you add new machines to this catalog they will use these copies in each local datastore so there is no dependency on the master template anymore.

    Hello,

is there any possibility to send ALT+Tab into a RDP-session for changing applications?

    Thanks,

    George

For a Citrix Desktop session in full screen Alt + tab is sent into the citrix desktop.

  14. Citrix Director would be the go to monitoring solution. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/xenapp-and-xendesktop/7-15-ltsr/director.html

It is available for all license editions.

Configuration logging feature is more to track the changes that different admins make to CVAD site over time. e.g policies, catalog updates.

What are you looking to track ?

The Citrix Health Assistant may also be a good tool if you are troubleshooting something that failed.

     https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX207624/citrix-health-assistant-troubleshoot-vda-registration-and-session-launch

  15. Correct: This means the license edition you have does not support configuration logging. Likely a standard edition license. https://www.citrix.com/content/dam/citrix/en_us/documents/data-sheet/cvad-service-feature-matrix.pdf

    https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/monitor/configuration-logging.html

"Product editions that do not support configuration logging do not have a Logging node in Studio."

  16. Are you a Full administrator ? Could be an admin gave you only certain permissions

Seems you also might have a MMC that has Studio and Storefront combined. Try to launch to Studio MMC and see.
Also check the following  commands run ok in Powershell Get-Logsite or Get-LogDataStore . Perhaps during an upgrade the config logging was disabled https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX139447/how-to-disable-or-enable-configuration-logging-service-in-xendesktop-7-using-powershell

  17. I wouldn't suspect CTX338807 or similar as that was a VDA side bug and code fixes were integrated into base 2203 VDA builds.  It wouldn't make sense for it to only happen after the upgrade of the controller components either.

Since you mention the VDA Servers were not staying registered correctly I can only suspect the upgrade of the Controller and DB left the registration or list of active sessions out of sync.

Making sure you follow the steps for controller and DB upgrade steps carefully.  Perhaps even doing all controllers and DB steps during a planned upgrade window would be ideal.

    https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/2203-ltsr/upgrade-migrate/upgrade.html

The other theory would be some policy in 2203 now has a different default value compared to 1912. e.g. Graphics using EDT, FastReconnect, Profile related policies.  These are things I can think that would be pushed from DDC onto the VDA's that could cause it after a DDC upgrade.

It's very hard pinpoint what might have caused it...
I checked some recently reported cases around 2203 upgrades and am not seeing any similar behavior reported. Most are VDA side upgrade behavior related issues.

Other than the above I think we'd need a support case logged for an engineer to diagnose this further.

  18.

This will be hard to narrow down. If we are sure the Workspace App and VDA's did not change and the only piece you upgraded (then restored back after failing) was the Controller, Studio, Director then it must be something in the brokering of the connection that is different in 1912 vs 2203.  Is all the above true ?
