Tom Hill1709151942
Hi, I'm very new to think client setups and was following the instructions on this thread (http://support.citrix.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=187&threadID=104712&messageID=749499&start=0) to set up a POC. When I attempt to create an XPP or ubuntu VM I get the following error message when starting the VM: VM could not be started on any host for the following reasons: xenserver-lvsradup HVM is required for this operation and this entry in the log: 15/07/2008 16:22:07 Error: Starting VM 'Windows XP SP2 (1)' - There were no hosts available to complete the specified operation. Has anyone seen this before? Tom Link to comment
Philip Cox
I believe that the Opteron 875 does NOT have the AMD-V (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opteron), and thus would explain the error. Phil Link to comment
Philip Cox
I have seen it. Is the Hardware virtualization enabled in the server BIOS? The HVM error seems to be related to the absence of Hardware Virtualization support (i.e., Intel VT stuff). Phil Link to comment
Tom Hill1709151942
I can't seem to find anything relating to VT/Virtualisation in the BIOS so I'm assuming that the processors (Opteron 875's) and or the servers are not capable of running the XenServer. Please someone correct me if this is not the case! (I have also sent a support request to HP to confirm this) Many thanks, Tom Link to comment

Sebastian Lemens
As far as I know Xen expects within every "other media install" a HVM Virtual machine. I was yet not able to install a PV machine with this option Link to comment

Hi,
I'm very new to think client setups and was following the instructions on this thread (http://support.citrix.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=187&threadID=104712&messageID=749499&start=0) to set up a POC. When I attempt to create an XPP or ubuntu VM I get the following error message when starting the VM:
VM could not be started on any host for the following reasons:
xenserver-lvsradup HVM is required for this operation
and this entry in the log:
15/07/2008 16:22:07 Error: Starting VM 'Windows XP SP2 (1)' - There were no hosts available to complete the specified operation.
Has anyone seen this before?
