Alternative video player to Media Player

Is there an alternative video player to Windows Media Player that can be used to watch videos through Citrix?
Windows Media Player does not contain enough codecs to play most formats (Black Screen).
Our security team doesn't like VLC player
Is there anyone using another player successfully?

you can use the Media Player Classic Fork: https://github.com/clsid2/mpc-hc
it can use Windows Media Redirection
