How to determine which random desktop will be selected by the Delivery Controller Broker

Determining which "Virtual Apps" server the next session will be brokered to is easy because of the LoadIndex value. The server with the lowest value will get the next session. But with single session "Virtual Desktop" machines the LoadIndex is always $null. Is there a way to determine which machine will be selected next?

 

This is relevant when a VDA is Registered and Available but a session cannot be successfully connected. When this happens in the "Virtual Apps" side the admin can place the server in Maintenance Mode and the issue is resolved. I'd like to know how to do this on the Desktop side.
