RSD per device CAL

Dear Guys,

 

I need to understand how Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop handle the Multi-session "RDSH" CALs. I have premium concurrent license and while the users entered their sessions, The session takes its CALs from the "Temporary RDS per Device CAL" insted-of the purchased "Installed RDS per device CAL" ?! 

 

Note: I configured the VDA RDSH Server GPO to use the Remote Desktop license server X and set the mode to be "Per Device". Also, Changed the regedit "LicensingMode" to 2.

Are the VDAs and the RD Licensing Server the same operating system version?

There's RD Licensing Diagnoser in Server Manager Features that you can install on the VDA.

Dear Carl,

Thanks for your reply. The VDA "RDSH" and the RD License Server are on the same server. All the Citrix environment is with the same OS "Windows Server 2022", and the installed CAls are Windows Server 2022 as well.

Maybe you have already the answer...

When you connect a device the first time, a temporary license issued. After the second connection, a "real" device CAL is issued and the temporary CAL of this device is gone.

The operating system version on the license server have to be the same or newer.
