2203LTSR Linux PVS Non-Persistent boot error

Kelly OKeefe

Question

We are in the process of learning Linux PVS in our dev environment, and are running into a few issues getting setup.  This current test is with Ubuntu 20.04, and we have successfully installed the VDA and created an image via the pvs-imager. However, after converting the disk to read-only and created delivery groups, the image attempts to PXE boot and bombs out into grub rescue. (ERROR: Attempt to read or write outside of disk 'hd0').

Perhaps we are not partitioning the disks correctly for this, does anyone have any doc/guidance on how these should be setup? Any suggestions appreciated!

I found the solution to my issue:

When you use Citrix Provisioning to stream Linux target devices, create a separate boot partition on the single shared-disk image so that the provisioned devices can boot as expected.

Simply creating a new vm with /boot on a separate disk fixed the issue.
