Updating persistent VDI Desktops vs Shared Desktop in MCS.

Darman

Question

Hi everyone,

Are  there a mechanism to updating VDI Desktops(not  in SCCM) just like the way the Shared desktops are updated in MCS ,

taking snapshots, and pushing out the latest image changes through Machine Catalog, and restating VDA machines ?

If there is no option , then my question is why ? is this a Windows 10 limitations by Design ? what other solutions are out there that can be implement( other than SCCM).

Thanks,

Akio

Hi James,

Thanks for your response.

Why can't you update the pooled VDI Desktops the same mechanism you update the Shared Desktops. Please see the attached image.

In Pooled VDI desktops Update Machine option is not available in Citrix Studio;

When you take a snapshot of Image how would you push that change to pooled desktops?.

If there is no option , then my question is why ? is this a Windows 10 limitations by Design ? what other solutions are out there that can be implement( other than SCCM).

Thanks,

Akiyo

Yes it most definitely is. I can't see your catalog, but maybe its not an MCS provisioned catalog?

This is core to Citrix capability and has been around for a long long time
