Logon time increased with 15 seconds when using elastic layer function.

Laurentius Zwanenburg

Question

We are using AppLayering to create an windows 10 Image for Citrix PVS.

When enabling the elastic layer function, the logon time increase with 15 seconds even when no elastic layer is assigned to the user.

is this a normal behaviour? For us it is not acceptable to increase the logon time with 15 seconds. When assigning elastic layers to the user the logon time is not getting longer then the already 15 seconds.

Is there something we can do to decrease the 15 seconds extra logon time

It does take longer to log on when using elastic layering even with no layers to attach.  Our service has to go out to the el share and look to see if nay layers need to be mounted.  How long it takes is based on the performance of the desktop and the infrastructure.  There is a log in c:\programdata\unidesk\Logs\ulayersvc.log that will tell you what is happening during logon and how long it takes.

We have upgraded the applayer appliance.

Today i created a new image with elastic layer enabled. And this was much better. It was hard to measure  the difference in logon time. I found the “c:\programdata\unidesk\Logs\ulayersvc.log” and when it happens again I will look there. I am not sure it was the upgrade  that did the trick but for now we can test this feature.

Thanx for the reaction.

The slow logins are still here. I don't know why is works quick for one day.

we also use FSLogix and Ivanti workspace controle.

we have applied the regkey.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\frxdrvvt\Instances\frxdrvvt\Altitude

Set the value to 138010

when elastic layer is enabled everything in the login process is slower.

i click the desktop icon and the the welkom screen shows and takes about 3 seconds slower.

I think this is where the FSLogixs disks and elastic layers are mounted.

after that Ivanti workspace control starts, every step takes just a bit longer.

in total the login time increase with 15 to 25 seconds.

in the logfile i do not see the process to mount the disk is slow.
