Understanding OpenvSwitch and how Networking works (Same IP Adress on 2 VM's)

Question

Hi,

we use Citrix Hypervisor 8.2 CU1 and have "openvSwitch" enabled.

[root@xenserver-12 ~]# xe host-list params=software-version
software-version (MRO) : product_version: 8.2.1; product_version_text: 8.2 CU1; product_version_text_short: 8.2 CU1; platform_name: XCP; platform_version: 3.2.1; product_brand: Citrix Hypervisor; build_number: release/yangtze/master/58; hostname: localhost; date: 2021-12-03; dbv: 2020.0617; xapi: 1.20; xen: 4.13.4-9.17; linux: 4.19.0+1; xencenter_min: 2.15; xencenter_max: 2.15; network_backend: openvswitch; db_schema: 5.602
software-version (MRO) : product_version: 8.2.1; product_version_text: 8.2 CU1; product_version_text_short: 8.2 CU1; platform_name: XCP; platform_version: 3.2.1; product_brand: Citrix Hypervisor; build_number: release/yangtze/master/58; hostname: localhost; date: 2021-12-03; dbv: 2020.0617; xapi: 1.20; xen: 4.13.4-9.17; linux: 4.19.0+1; xencenter_min: 2.15; xencenter_max: 2.15; network_backend: openvswitch; db_schema: 5.602
software-version (MRO) : product_version: 8.2.1; product_version_text: 8.2 CU1; product_version_text_short: 8.2 CU1; platform_name: XCP; platform_version: 3.2.1; product_brand: Citrix Hypervisor; build_number: release/yangtze/master/58; hostname: localhost; date: 2021-12-03; dbv: 2020.0617; xapi: 1.20; xen: 4.13.4-9.17; linux: 4.19.0+1; xencenter_min: 2.15; xencenter_max: 2.15; network_backend: openvswitch; db_schema: 5.602

To test a special VM, we cloned this VM and assigned it to a different VLAN, which is isolated at the switch level.

The Clone VM have the same IP-Adress as the production VM, but differs to different vlan.

Is there any possibility that the "OpvenvSwitch" passes traffic from other VM's, witch have the vlan of the production VM, to the cloned vm with different vlan.... ?

Hmmm, I'm not sure; have never tried to duplicate an IP address under OpenVswitch. My suggestion would be to change the IP addres if this is causing issues (which apparently is not the case), otherwise leave it alone. As such unless you specifically fource routing through 10.X, the network traffic on that VLAN should remain totally isolated.
