Multipath XenServer 8.2

Hi there,

 

we are using Xenserver 8.2 with update XS82E024. I want to enable multipathing on a Xenserver which is in maintenance mode. If i want to enble this feature i get the error "xenserver multipath this operation cannot be performed because a vdi is in use by some other operation". But there is no virtual machine on this Server. 

Can somebody help me?

From the CLI, can you run the "list_domains" command or "xe vm-list params=running" (or some syntax similar to that) to see if a VM is active?

is there any SR attached to dom0?

Note that in a pool, you'll need to put each server into maintenance mode and perform this separately.

@Tobias: There are no VMs listed

@Jose: how can ich check this?

@Tobias: Can i put one Xenserver after the other in maintenence mode or must all servers in the pool at the same time in maintenence mode?

I made the same on another Xenser. I put the xenserver in maintenance mode and i activate the multipath check box. I got the same error. Is there a dependency to use the HA on the cluster?

Tom,

You can put each server independently into maintenance mode. There should be no HA dependency involved.

I'd check if any host thinks a VM is active, checking the power-state and making sure any VM on the host truly is inactive.

Hi Tobias,

i migrated all the VMs from this 2 Xenserver, there are no VMs runing aln also there are no VMs on both of the servers. Also the maintenance mode is active. Ig i check the "Multipath" checkbox it will start the operation but i run on this error. The same on both servers.

If you run "xe vdi-list" do you see any VDIs, given that all VMs were migrated? Maybe there's an active template or some other remnant?
