iLo can't interface with Emergency Mode/Single User Kernel Mode

I have a XenServer 7.6 that seams to have lost it's root password so I'm trying to reset the password following this guide however I'm getting stuck once in Emergency Mode/Single User Kernel. The console window doesn't seem to pass any key strokes over to XenServer, I've tried with the HTML 5, .Net and Java console along with multiple browsers (IE, Edge & Chrome).

 

This is a remote server so it's not possible to enter the commands in physically at present .

 

Any ideas/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jake,

 

That sounds more like an issue with iLO than with XenServer, although it wouldn't explain why you were able to change the GRUB command line to get into Emergency Mode.

Perhaps you have access to a remote hands service, if this server is in hosted in a colocation datacenter?

Could also be a server frozen for some reason needing a power cycle.

Any network access to where you can SSH to the server ?
