Taskbar preview only showing content of active window

The previews in the taskbar, when hovering over the application icon shows only the content of the currently active window.

You can see in my example pictures that the active window is Internet Explorer and when hovering over the Outlook 2010 icon it shows the same content.

 

Does someone know how to fix this?

 

We use Receiver 4.11 with Xenapp 7.15.1 on Windows Server 2012R2

For Multi Monitor Preview please check CTX208020. I set it in the default.ica on my storefront.

We also tried to repro on w2k12 R2 as well issue is not seen.

Can you confirm if its a consistent behavior and if possible share us video(to see if it happens only on some specific pattern or a steps) and a CDF logs.

To clarify: client OS Win7 and Win10 are affected.

While testing it seems like the problem surfaced, when we enabled the preview for multi-mointor-setups (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\ICA Client\Engine\Lockdown Profiles\All Regions\Lockdown\Virtual Channels\Seamless Windows  EnablePreviewForMultiMonitor)

I experienced this earlier in the year with a customer running versions 4.4-4.9 and XA 7.15.1000. Interestingly enough it was rectified by upgrading Receiver to 4.11, contrary to your experiences. Has this been tested with any other version such as the 4.9.2000 LTSR version by chance?

Yes, we were testing with 4.7, 4.8, 4.9.0 and 4.10 additionally.

 

I'm not so sure anymore that this problem is on the client side.

By now we upgraded the farm to 7.15.2.

i have tested VDA 7.11, 7.13, 7.15, 7.15 CU2 and all show the same issue on Server 2016.

Also in the alt+tab view on the client shows only a preview of the active application. 

 

i didnt test different receiver versions, but i dont think this makes a difference. 

 

has anyone a case opened about this?

We have the same problem also, our clients are on Windows 10 and Windows 7, servers are on windows 2016.

 

When all the applications are minimized, the previews are good, otherwise, the preview is good for a second and then show the last active application

But a Workaround: Disable Hardware Acceleration

Create RegKey and restart Receiver.

"HWacceleration"=dword:00000000

 

This might help too if you have random session freezes or crashes with HDX Engine.

The issues started after upgrade to 4.9 CU4 (from 4.4.4000).

but i also noticed, the issue seems to only occur, when i maximize a published application. in windowed mode it seems not to happen.

Some minutes ago I was happy, because I thought, that I am not affected.

As soon as @Christoph Kolbicz1709152810 mentioned, that maximizing the published apps triggers the issue, I was able to reproduce this issue easily too.

This is fixed.. If you are facing this issue, a private is available LD1030 (for Receiver 4.9 LTSR CU5, Workspace App 18.8 and 18.12). 

Please open a case with with Citrix Support and ask for this private.

We tried the private fix LD1030 but it only works when using one monitor.
If using dual monitors it just shows the Icon for the application in the preview window and most of our customers are using dual monitors unfortunately.
We are testing with Workspace App 18.12.

I also changed the default.ica and it worked finally. Had a case with Citrix for this that have been open for a while now.
Think i am gonna try here first in the future .

for us the private Fix LD1030 works fine!

we  tested with workspace app 1812, 1903 and 1904.1

Our Backend is 1811 and the worker 2012R2 with vda 1811.

we have VDA 7.15.4 and VDA 7.15.5 on W2k12R2 with Receiver 4.9.7 and 4.9.8 tested.

In both situations we see problems with previews when haveing one Monitor.

(can't switch between windows; previews stuck when hovering;)

 

 

When activating "EnablePreviewForMultiMonitor" we also see the problem on clients with 2 monitors.

 

We opened a case 2 Weeks ago. No Ideas from Citrix so far.

 

did anyone find a solution? Receiver downgrade?

thx for the hint. But eaven with Workspace App 1909 we see the issue.

 - or previews are not generated
