Application enumeration issue - storefront 2.1

We use storefront 2.1 in mixed farm presentation server 4.5,Xenapp 6.5 and xendesktop 4.0, one day all of a sudden application enumeration failed only for 4.5 farm. a refresh in the webpage or logoff and login will bring the application icons back. this continued for two days. Citrix support helpded in re configuring timeout setting in storefront servers. this did not fix the issue. Then after sometime slowly issue got automatically resolved.

below events repeated frequently in storefront servers during the issue.

1.    All the Citrix XML Services configured for farm <4.5 farm name>  failed to respond to this XML Service transaction.
2.    An error occurred while attempting to read information from the Citrix servers: Unable to read data from the transport connection: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.. This message was reported from the XML Service at address http://xxxserver name/scripts/wpnbr.dll [NFuseProtocol.TRequestLaunchRef]. The specified Citrix XML Service could not be contacted and has been temporarily removed from the list of active services.
3.    A socket has been forcibly destroyed by the transaction layer.

we also have a UAT environment where we did not face this issue.we are still receiving event 4003 in all production storefront servers->  All the Citrix XML Services configured for farm <4.5 farm name>  failed to respond to this XML Service transaction.

Did anyone else faced this issue?

Hi

Even if you see the option on Store Front Manage Delivery Controllers on XenApp6.5 (or earlier ) Tab, that is not included with PS4.5.

In this case you can still use Webinterface5.4 sepreately for PS45 farm or else you should upgrade PS4.5 to latest.

Hi Sam/Kailas/Carl,

Thanks for your response, we are aware and migrating our environment from 4.5 to 6.5. This may take some more time and we would still need storefront to include 4.5 farm. As I already mentioned this issue is currently resolved but still we are receiving the above mentioned alerts and worried if the issue may reoccur.

Based on above discussion we found micorsoft re released patch KB3018238 on december 9th, we tested this in UAT and installing in production now.

1. All the Citrix XML Services configured for farm <4.5 farm name>  failed to respond to this XML Service transaction.
2.An error of type IMA with an error ID of 0x80000001 was reported from the Citrix XML Service at address http://XXXXX/scripts/wpnbr.dll [NFuseProtocol.TRequestAppData]. Depending on the server running the XML Service, more information may be available in the server's event log. This Citrix XML Service transaction failed, but the XML Service has not been removed from the list of active services.

the above events are logged frequently.

Hi,

same issue with a new storefront 1903 installation.

unable to enumerate xenapp 4.5 (xenapp 5) applications.

I need to unregister and register again Citrix XML Service on xenapp brokers.

the service was missing.
