  1. Receiver Helper virus homes in on the user-defined preferences in Safari, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. It identifies which browser to target by profiling the victim at the early stage of the attack. This process involves, among other things, a reconnaissance aimed at amassing the details on the hardware set-up, macOS version, third-party software installed, IP address, system language, and geolocation. Obviously, it’s the default browser that undergoes the tweaking. This way, the adware operators make sure that they strike exactly where it hurts. The mechanics of this tampering are as follows: the infection replaces the preferred search engine, start page, and new tab page settings with a page involved in a traffic monetization scheme. It tends to be a search provider copycat that outsources all requests to a real information lookup service like Yahoo or Bing while plugging one or a few in-between domains into the rerouting logic. These transitional URLs are mostly advertising networks that treat all user leads as a tradeable commodity no matter if they originate from legit sources or from unethical browser hijacking techniques.

The steps listed below will walk you through the removal of this malicious application. Be sure to follow the instructions in the order specified.

    1.    Open up the Utilities folder as shown below
    2.    Locate the Activity Monitor icon on the screen and double-click on it
    3.    Under Activity Monitor, find a process named Receiver Helper select it and click Quit Process
    4.    A dialog should pop up, asking if you are sure you would like to quit the troublemaking process. Select the Force Quit option
    5.    Click the Go button again, but this time select Applications on the list. Find the Receiver Helper entry on the interface, right-click on it and select Move to Trash. If user password is required, go ahead and enter it
    6.    Now go to Apple Menu and pick the System Preferences option
    7.    Select Accounts and click the Login Items button. The system will come up with the list of the items that launch when the computer is started up. Locate Receiver Helper or other potentially unwanted object there and click on the “-” button.

  2. The Reclaim freed space option in XenCenter enables you to free up unused blocks (for example, deleted virtual disks in an SR) on a LUN that is thinly provisioned by the storage array. Once released, the reclaimed space can then be reused by the array. The Reclaim freed space operation is only available for LVM-based SRs that are thinly provisioned on the array (that is, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, or Local LVM). This feature is not enabled on file-based SRs such as NFS and Ext3 as these SR types do not require a manual space reclamation operation.

    To reclaim freed space

Select the Infrastructure view and then click on the host or the pool that contains the SR.

    Click on the Storage tab.

Select the SR from the list and then click Reclaim freed space. Note: Reclaiming freed space is an intensive operation and can affect the performance of the storage array. You should perform this operation only when space reclamation is required on the array. Citrix recommends that you schedule this work outside the peak array demand hours.

Click Yes to confirm the operation. To view the status of this operation, click Notifications and then Events.

  3. It could be that you run out of disk space, these days even 8Gb does not sound like a lot when you would cache your streamed app CAB files together with the PVS writecache. Do you reboot regularly (to clear the PVS writecache) and how much space would your applications use if you'd have them all cached? Could you monitor the space usage to see if there is a pattern that would match the BSOD occurences?

  4. Which outlook mode did you use ? i mean are you using Outlook online mode or some outlook cache feature ?

Because if you are using online mode , outlook application can hang waiting Office 365 hosted exchange server response. And it fit with your symptoms. Try to investigate about latency or firewall between your VDA and your exchange server. Have you perform the right exclusion in your antivirus software? Sometimes the antivirus take time and hang the process.

How can I MFA my Citrix Account -  https://www.citrix.com/account ?

This has critical information not to mention it can be used to access Citrix Cloud infrastructure so it needs to be secured.

Setup is very simple, let’s dive into it:
    1. When you log into your Citrix Cloud console now, you will see a notification about the Active Directory + Token option like this:
    2. When you go to Identity and Access Management, you will see it as an available option to turn on
    3. Click on the ellipsis (3 dots) next to Not Configured and click Connect:
    4. If you already have Cloud Connectors installed, the Connect to Active Directory portion will have a green check mark like this already. You will notice that in the second step it says “Single Device Enabled – Workspace subscribers may enroll one device”. Just hit Save and Finish.
    5. At this point, you will see a green banner saying “Active Directory + Token was successfully enabled” and there will be a green Enabled dot next to the option.
    6. Now you need to enable it for use on your Workspace. Go to Workspace Configuration:
    7. I have been using Azure Active Directory. You should now see an option called Active Directory + Token here. Go ahead and click on it:
    8. Check the disclaimer and hit Confirm:
    9. Now you should see it has been selected and is green:
    10. It will take about 2-3 minutes for Workspace to re-configure itself. If users attempt to hit Workspace during this authentication change time they will get a message saying “You cannot log on at this time”. For this reason, I suggest making this change at a time when user traffic for new launches is low (like around lunch time).

You may also see a message like this saying “Cannot complete your request” during this waiting period if you keep refreshing, it is in the process of reconfiguring the authentication method so just keep waiting a little bit longer:
    11. After those few minutes the new login screen will look like this. There will be a field for them to enter their Password Token as well as a “Don’t have a token?” link for them to onboard themselves. Note, users can also use this link to re-enroll later if they buy a new device and I have tested this capability successfully already using another device:
    12. After clicking the onboarding link, I am asked to enter my user name from AD or my company email address so I can get a registration link via email:
Note, the user cannot just enter a random email address here. It must be the one set in Active Directory for that user. Example, if you type in a Gmail account here you will be presented with this message saying “User not found”:
    13. The user will get an email like this to “Complete Your Device Registration” as the subject line will say. The verification code is only valid for 24 hours. At this time I have noticed that the email has a default Workspace logo along the top but as this feature goes GA (generally available) I suspect the email will follow your company’s Workspace branding settings. Go ahead and copy the verification code from the email:
    15. Go ahead and copy and paste the verification code and enter your password:
    16. On the next screen, your users will be asked to scan the QR code shown on the screen with their phone. They can use the Citrix SSO app, Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, Okta Verify, Authy, etc. here since they all follow the same RFC for TOTP. There is no benefit in using the Citrix SSO app over the others right now. There is no push authentication mechanism capability so there is nothing proprietary with this solution that is locking you into the Citrix SSO app. You can tell your users to use whichever authenticator app your company recommends.

    RESOLUTION 1

Remove the extra entry of cmstart.exe and keep just one instance of cmastart.exe under :
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\AppSetup

    RESOLUTION 2

If the following registry has file paths for both userinit.exe and KUsrInit.exe then remove the userinit.exe under below registry key:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\UserInit

The "svchost.exe" and "auditcse.dll" is one of the Windows processes and system files. You can check the integrity of your system files by using the utility tool called System File Checker. It helps users to perform scanning, repairing, and restoring of missing or corrupted system files of your computer that generates errors like this.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

  9. Give your problem, I recommend you can follow the steps below to troubleshoot your issue:

    1.    Open registry editor and go to “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins” to check whether your add-in is installed correctly. By default, the value of LoadBehavior is “3”, with which the VSTO Add-in will be loaded when you launch Outlook, if LoadBehavior value of your add-in is not “3”, you can try to change it to “3”.
    2. Start Outlook to see whether the add-in works well. If the add-in shows up at “Active Application Add-ins” and the status of “Load Behavior” is Load at Startup, it should work well.
    3. If the problem still exists, you can check the error via right-clicking This PC to Properties, and then go to Advanced system settings > Environment Variables > New to add a new system variable, the variable name is “VSTO_SUPPRESSDISPLAYALERTS”, the variable value is “0”. In addition, open the registry editor and go to “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins” to set the LoadBehavior of your add-in to be “3”. Then when you restart Outlook client, there will be pop-up dialog describing what the error is, and share the screenshot with me.
    4. Follow this link to re-enable the add-in.

If the issue persists, please offer me following information for further analysis:
    1. Did other members in your organization have the same issue?
    2. The related screenshots of your operation process.
    2. The version of your Outlook client.

    I hope this helps

  11. You can disable session reliabilty and enable ica keep alive using Citrix virtual desktop Computer policy --> Goto policies-->User policy.

You can set apply policies to either group of users or group of servers by creating a OU's.

    Session Reliabilty:

Session Reliability keeps sessions active when network connectivity is interrupted. Users continue to see the application they are using until network connectivity resumes.

    ICA Keep Alives:

Enabling this setting prevents broken connections from being disconnected. If XenApp detects no activity, this setting prevents Remote Desktop Services from disconnecting the session. XenApp sends keep-alive

messages every few seconds to detect if the session is active. If the session is no longer active, XenApp marks the session as disconnected.

*Note:* ICA Keep-Alive does not work if you are using Session Reliability. Configure ICA Keep-Alive only for connections that are not using Session Reliability.

  12. You can use third party web based application like Teramind, to monitor all screens on a single web page. Also, you may want to explore the options provided in Citrix Director, if you had configured it (to monitor the activities of other computer/virtual machines in same Citrix domain).

  13. Can you provide more details? By retiring the Citrix farm, do you mean that you guys will be moving to newer version? If not, what was the purpose of the Citrix farm and what are planning to move to? Will be like, accessing the machines/servers, using RDP instead of Citrix Receiver?

I also recommend to consult Citrix partners like Apps4Rent who provides hourly paid service and can assess and help you out decommissioning the farm. In my environment, I had to implement Citrix browser content redirection and was not able to do so. Purchased few hours of service from these guys and I am happily using the feature now.

  14. Open Settings by pressing Windows Key+I.

First, navigate to System > Notifications & actions section and check if the required notifications have been enabled.

Then navigate to Privacy > Background Apps. This will reveal a list of apps which run in the background and send you notifications on your citrix xendesktop.

Toggle on Let apps run in the background and then Reboot your computer

However, if it is already toggled on, toggle it off, and then turn it back on.

Also ensure that KB4476976 is installed on windows 10 if not then install the same to fix the notification issue.
