Hello,
We are currently doing some testing with the Citrix Profile Container.
In production, we use the normal file-based profile management from Citrix. In parallel, we are also testing containers with FSLogix. However, we currently have the problem that the Citrix profile containers are simply not being created.
Our GPOs looks like this and we followed the offical citrix guide ( https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/tech-zone/build/deployment-guides/citrix-profile-containers.html )
But Citrix does not create a VHDX, but a normal file based Profile.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you!

Good to know I'm not alone with this problem.
Unfortunately, so far I have not found anything else about it.
-
Yes, this setting is enabled.
Because we followed your CVAD guide ?
-
Thanks for the feedback.
Unfortunately I can't find anything in the registry.
What I also do not understand is that when logging into our master image, this message does not come. Only in the VDAs when the user logs in. -
Hello,
we have installed new Windows Server 2022 with VDA version 2308 and have a strange problem.Every time users log in, the following message appears:
"You'll need a new app to open this ctxgeoloc link".The window disappears immediately when you click anywhere.
Does anyone know what this is about and how I can get rid of the message?
I could not find anything on the internet about ctxgeoloc. Thanks!

Citrix fixed it now.
With latest CitrixGroupPolicyManagement_x64 2308 its finally not crashing anymore!

Not yet, because we are moving to Citrix Cloud DaaS.
But in release notes there is the following fixed issue:
QuoteWith the Enlightened Data Transport (EDT) protocol enabled, Citrix sessions might freeze when you update a VDA from version 1912 LTSR CU6 to version 1912 LTSR CU7. [CVADHELP-23370]
So it looks like its fixed ?
-
Not yet.
I thought it might be something simple that someone here has had before and I'm overlooking.
-
Yes, this is exactly what always happens.
The Snapin is then unloaded.
-
I assume that no one else has this problem.
In the meantime, we have tried it on freshly installed Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022. Nothing installed except Group Policy Management, Citrix Group Policies and SDK.
But it keeps crashing. -
I have now also installed and set up FSLogix.
But still after each Citrix login the teams password is requested.
We also have notebooks in use, the credentials are stored there. Therefore I don't understand why this doesn't work in Citrix. Not even with containers.
In addition, I now get a black screen for about 30 seconds before the desktop is displayed.
-
I will give it a try today.
We are also considering switching completely to containers.
Is there a recommended variant?
- UPM + Citrix Container
- UPM + FSLogix Container
- Only Citrix / FSLogix Container without UPMThanks for the help up to here

No, we are not using something like duo and we are not using FAS right now.
We gone through the process to setup Hybrid AzureAD with a Microsoft employee.
What we just noticed is that our Server 2016 VDAs do not have this problem.
Only the Server 2022 VDAs.

Does anyone have any new information on this topic?
Unfortunately, we are experiencing the same problem. Teams wants to have the password after each Citrix login.I already tried to copy the two folders (BrokerToken / Microsoft) manually or by script, but even if both folders exist the password is requested.

Sorry Scott, I never found a solution for it.

Hello,
We are currently testing the possibilities with Citrix DaaS. So far we are running OnPremise. Now we would like to customize the group policies via GPMC.
It is a freshly installed Windows Server 2022 and we proceeded as described here: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX238166/how-to-manage-citrix-gpos-outside-of-the-ddc-using-ms-gpmcAfter we open the Citrix Policies, the window stays empty for a while and at some point the MMC.exe crashes. But only after we installed the DaaS Remote PowerShell SDK. Without this everything works fine.
If I start a cloud connection via PowerShell, the cloud login window also comes up and I can access everything.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Thanks!

We observed this issue when we updated our VDA's versions to 1912 CU7 from CU6 on Windows Server 2016, after spending some time with citrix support we have a current work around by adding a Citrix policy to turn off HDX Adaptive Transport (i.e. forcing the connection to use TCP) and now no more freezing applications.?
Turning off HDX Adaptive Transport is not a nice solution...
Hopefully they fix it with CU8.
-
Unfortunately not. We are still on CU6.
-
Unfortunately, we haven't had time to take care of it yet (since the stopgap solution of using VDA CU6 is currently working).
We have to make requests to Citrix via our Citrix IT license provider and they are currently busy converting our licenses to the new licensing model.Once this is complete we are considering building a new Citrix farm with the latest version.
-
Actually the plan was to update from 1912 CU6 to 2203 CU2.
But unfortunately our SQL cluster is still running on SQL Server 2012, which is no longer supported by Citrix.
So we did the update to 1912 CU7 until our SQL cluster was upgraded. Then I will try to open case.

Hello,
we have recently updated our infrastructure from 1912 LTSR CU6 to CU7. This has also worked without any problems so far.
However, directly after logging in, the Citrix session freezes for some. Only the image freezes - mouse and keyboard inputs are still accepted.
This problem only occurs when using the Citrix Workspace app in Windows on our devices with VPN.
On the same device directly in our buildings there are no problems and from external (VPN) with this device via an additional Linux machine it also works.Private computers at home via netscaler also works.
This means that the error occurs exclusively in Windows with the Citrix Workspace app + VPN.
We use the Workspace app 2203 LTSR, but all other versions have the error as well.BUT, when we roll back our VDAs to 1912 LTSR CU6, the connection works again. The error only occurs with VDA version CU7.
So for now we have put all VDA back to the CU6.Has anyone ever had such a problem or is anything known in this regard?
Is it bad if we have VDA CU6 but the infrastructure on CU7?Thanks in advance.

Usually whenever our apps printing connection is broken, apps freeze up and people start smashing keyboards.
It looks exactly the same with us.
When a print job is started, the connection to the printer is established forever and everything freezes.
After about 1 minute can then be printed.
I have thought that this problem and the ghost sessions are independent of each other. But now that someone else is reporting this problem....

Hi @lagermax!
This is the sweet spot to look further, thanks!
our System 2016 LTSB with FSLogix, Office 2016, VDA 7,15.8
- exactly started after patching July 2022 aka KB5015808
Tried a lot, but this is it, I have also an open case with Citrix.
I think it is a combined problem with FSlogicx Windows Search and Citrix in 2016 LTSB.
Also tried a complete new Citrix 2203 env still exactly the same issue, so VDA upgraded, with Augsust 2022 path newest FSLogix HF1
will try HF2 tomorrow.
We also have this problem with Server 2016 and VDA 1912 CU5 LTRS without FXLogicx.
-
I can confirm that the error still occurs for us with 1912 LTSR CU5.
Very annoying... I hope Citrix will have a final fix soon.

I have already found my mistake.
I have activated the wrong policy for the folders to be added.
