You're still going to want to use 20.10.0.12 in your script. Each component has its own version number, and the path in the deployment script (line 96) is pointing to the Online Plug-in component:

    {78C8BAB6-EF8A-426B-8FE4-C5DE3FB5E1A4}          Online Plug-in          20.10.0.12          32-bit

You were correct.  Once I backed that out of the script, pulled and re-deployed the GPO, the logs started showing correctly, that once updated, the new package was already installed and nothing further needed to be done.

    Thanks!

  2. Here is the issue.  I am deploying this via the deployment batch file as I've always done, but it isn't working due to the version number....

This version is listed as: 20.10.0.20

Once installed manually, it shows in the Registry (dazzle key) as : 20.10.0.16

Once installed manually, it shows in DDC as: 20.10.0.12

Which version do I use for the "Set Desired Version" argument in the batch file?  When I use 20.10.0.20, the log files are showing "Package not detected, Begin Deployment" and it installs over itself again.

This may not be your problem but I run into a similar situation this occasionally and it's easy to fix.

Sessions started via a published application don’t run all the background jobs that published desktops do.  To force all the jobs to run, add the following to the local group policy:

         Script Name: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\runonce.exe

         Script Parameters: /AlternateShellStartup

         image.thumb.png.3b0881c7dc66114936c1b28973f1c12e.png

That seemed to get closer, but not in the way I would have liked.

When using this, other apps that run at startup, also fired up.  For example, another version of Teams, MitelConnect and a few other programs opened as well...sadly the one thing that did not run, were the logon scripts.

Just as the title says, these are not running when launching published applications, which is causing them to fail as they look for license files on network drives.  However, if I launch the virtual desktop the logon scripts are run and the mapped network drives are there.  However, if I change the logon script to a bat file, then the logon script runs, but I prefer the cleanliness of the VBS file.

I also tried the steps in CTX137853 - but this made no difference.

Any ideas on what I might be missing?

I've done some additional testing and I can confirm that if I remove the logon script entry from the AD location and run it at the desktop, there are no errors and everything runs fine, but when launching the published application, it skips running the logon script all together.  This is an issue with the apps, because they cannot find the license files or shared data sources, and as a result, the app crashes and won't open.

If anyone can assist, that would be great!

now script is running fine - have to look why this and about side effects ;-)

Since this controls your GPO provisioning....what have you seen as the side effect so far?  From what I've read, not having this file present should generate a lot of errors/event in the event log.

"User folder Stores all GPO settings that are configured under the User Configuration node in the GPO. Gpt. ini file Tracks the GPO version number. The version number changes each time the GPO is modified."

    Hello,

we are preparing a new master with W10 1909 and now have the problem that our Startup Script (*.cmd) which is working with our 1803 master are not executed on 1909 - the error in GPO Result is "The system can not find the stated file" (german translation)

we call the startup command file from Networkshare: \\Fileserver\Skripts$\W10XDSTARTUP.cmd

there are the same Policy but I cannot find the problem - any ideas?

are ther more restriced settings/policy in 1909 which I have to take care?

I'm running into a similar issue.  I;d love to know if you've found a solution.

  8. I've tried deploying edge in my environment and so far no success.  So far.....

    • I've added the GPO to disable First-Run.
    • I've added the Registry key for msedge.exe.

When I open up the browser, all I get is a blank white screen and rapid cursor flashing.  Is there something else I need to do in order to get it to run?  Restart services?

  9. My current environment leverages SSO so that the end-user does not need to login to the Citrix Workspace App.  When they logon to their computer, they are silently logged on to the XenApp/XenDesktop environment.  This works whether the user uses their laptop in the office or outside of the office.

However, I have one user that, was outside of the office at a hotel and he hit a proxy, the Workspace app popped up and he typed in an incorrect username and password.  Once he typed the correct one, all was good.  NOW, when he is outside of the office it always tries to auto-log him on with the incorrect username and password the first time, and then he can type in the correct one and it will work.  Inside of the office, it all still works as it is supposed to.

So - what happened to this one user's account?  I've ripped the Workspace app out of his laptop and even used the cleaner utility, but the problem remains - but only outside of the office. All other remote users are not affected.  Where is this incorrect username stored with the typo?  Is it on his machine or somewhere on the netscaler/Storefront?

What the user did was enter in username@domain.com instead of just username.

  10. Yeah - they just called back.  It sounds like it's a root issue with CIS.CITRIX.COM.  The manually took the site offline a couple of hours ago.  The tech support rep said it is an issue being handled internally and is offline for the foreseeable future.

Sounds to me like that site may have gotten breached or is caput, but meh - what do I know.

  11. Starting last week Health Checks from XenCenter started failing.

I unenrolled and try to re-enroll and enrollment fails.  The error message seems to point to a time-out.  As a test, I tried to login to CIS.cloud.com manually and boy did it take a while, after about 2 minutes I was finally able to get the homepage.

Is this a known issue?  And would it make sense this is the reason for my errors?

You typically need 2x the amount of free space for that to work. Can you make use of any other storage repository that has more space? Or if the snapshot is just as a backup, export it and delete it before the migration.

Great suggestion.....doing the export now.  Will report back after trying again tonight.

  13. Well that almost worked.....it errored out somewhere around almost 8 hours into the process.   I got a Storage_Interface.Does_Not_Exist(_) and it stopped.

From reading in here, specifically this post https://discussions.citrix.com/topic/404866-question-about-moving-vm-from-oldpool-to-newpool/ this appears to be a known issue with the amount of free space on the target.

I have a 2,032 GB VM (over two disks).

The amount of free space is 5, 866 GB.

Without the Snapshot, I need 4267.2 GB of free space.

With the Snaphot, then I need 8, 534GB free.

Would this work if I removed the snapshot?  Also, I don't see other disk residue as the previous posted did.  The same amount of free space exists before and after the attempted move.

  14. 3 hours ago, Tobias Kreidl said:

Yes, but then you end up not getting any changes that have taken place between when the snapshot was taken and when the new VM is started up to replace the old one. Granted, in some cases that may not be relevant, but it most certainly will in some cases!

    -=Tobias

For me, in this case with this server, the amount of data that could change in the 7 or so hours it would take would be tough to reconcile.  Typically I would use ROBOCOPY to mirror the changes, but clearly I can't have the same server online at the same time with the same name and GUID in the same domain to achieve this task.  The only safe way I can see to do this is to power it down and then COPY or MOVE the machine across the network to the other storage array.

  15. 1 minute ago, Tobias Kreidl said:

Oh, OK, that makes sense. I'd try what Boby John suggested then or the export/import piped option.

As to moving from one pool to another with different architectures, yes, that is correct that the VM cannot be running during the process.

    -=Tobias

If I do the copy, does that effectively double the maintenance window?

  16. The live migration is not supported,  as they are two different architectures (they aren't even an option on the menus).  The only way to perform this process that I can see, is to power the VM down completely and then perform the requested action.

Moving from Pool to Pool with two different architectures must be done in a power off state - right?  Am I wrong?

To be out of risk try Copy VM > Cross Pool.  ( this is not Move, this is copy and paste )

Once copied and verified the new one, delete it from the source.

I like this idea, but won't this turn the original window from ~8hrs to ~16hrs?  In my experience, the verify takes as long if not longer than the initial move/copy process?

  18. Hello All,

I have a question on the recoverability of a VM move between two pools/two SRs.

    Layout
2 x Dell R715 connected via HBA to MD3400 (old pool)

2 x Dell R740 connected via HBA to MD3200 (new pool)

So far, I've powered down and moved all VMs (13) from the old pool to the new pool across the network using the "Move VM" option thus far and it was worked wonderfully.  I have one last VM to move, but it is a large one weighing in at about 2.2TB.  Based on the other moves....a 200GB VM (+ Snapshot ..soo 400GB?) has taken about 45mins to move across the network.  If I move the 2TB VM, I estimate it will take about 7.5 hours to move the large VM.

Since this is a long time to move a VM, I am wondering what happens if MURPHY should show up mid move and decide it will fail for some reason, switch explodes, power outage that lasts days, etc.  Does it just abort and the VM is still in it's original location on the original SR?  Or is it lost because it's stuck 1/2 moved, 1/2 not.
