Issues with Citrix Virtual Apps Performance on Devices with Intel vPro Chipset

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone has experienced similar performance issues when running Citrix Virtual Apps (CVAs) on devices equipped with Intel vPro chipset, particularly in an enterprise environment.

We’ve been deploying Citrix Virtual Apps across our organization for the past year, and most workstations perform well. However, we’ve recently encountered a few performance-related anomalies specifically on devices using Intel vPro chipsets (e.g., on Dell Latitude and Lenovo ThinkPad series). These issues are more pronounced when running resource-intensive applications like CAD software and large Excel models, which are typical in our workflow.

The Symptoms:

• Sluggish Application Performance: When users launch certain applications via Citrix, there’s a noticeable lag (10-15 seconds) before the application window appears.
• High CPU Usage: We’ve seen spikes in CPU usage when accessing applications that use a significant amount of memory, even with optimized Citrix settings.
• Connection Stability: Occasionally, there’s a brief disconnection or a “flaky” connection for users on devices with Intel vPro chipsets, though the same users do not face this issue on devices without the vPro chipset.

Troubleshooting So Far:

• Driver Updates: We've ensured that all drivers, particularly graphics drivers, are up to date on these devices.
• Citrix Optimization: Tried the usual Citrix optimization guidelines (e.g., tweaking the HDX settings and enabling GPU acceleration), but the performance issues persist.
• Intel vPro Features: I've considered that some of Intel vPro's remote management and power management features might be affecting Citrix performance, though I'm not entirely sure which specific setting could be responsible.
