leoarthur Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Hello Citrix Community, I’m currently in the market for a new laptop and wanted to reach out for some recommendations. My main focus is on finding a reliable device that runs Citrix smoothly, as I will be using it primarily for remote work and accessing virtual applications. Current Needs: CPU: I’m specifically looking at Intel i5 laptops on sale, as I’ve heard they strike a good balance between performance and price. RAM: A minimum of 16GB is a must since I often run multiple virtual desktops and applications simultaneously. Storage: SSD is essential for fast boot and load times, ideally at least 512GB. Display: A Full HD display would be great for long hours of use, and I’d prefer something that is easy on the eyes. Questions for the Community: Model Recommendations: Are there specific i5 laptops on sale that you would recommend for Citrix environments? I’ve seen a few models from Dell and Lenovo, but I’d love your insights on which ones perform best. Graphics Requirements: Do I need a dedicated GPU, or can an integrated one suffice for typical Citrix workloads? My use will primarily involve business applications rather than high-end gaming. User Experiences: If you’ve recently purchased an i5 laptop for Citrix, I’d love to hear about your experience. What do you like or dislike about your device? I appreciate any guidance you can offer as I navigate this purchase. Finding a laptop that is both affordable and effective for my needs is crucial. Thank you in advance for your help!
Jeff Riechers Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Really, anything will work. Ebay is a great source. Lenovo has solid machines. HP and Dell tend to be a little weaker in the plastics. If you can get one with an Nvidia GPU you will be better off, if you get one with Intel chips just make sure you have the latest video drivers. Anything 6th gen or later Intel is fine. Also, the linux client has gotten a lot of functionality added to it, and linux can really extend the life of an intel machine further than Windows will.
