Optimizing Citrix Performance with SAN Integration

I hope this message finds you well. I’m currently exploring ways to enhance the performance and efficiency of our Citrix environment and would love to hear your insights on integrating a Storage Area Network (SAN) with our existing setup.

We have been using Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops for a couple of years now, and while the performance has generally met our needs, we've noticed some latency issues during peak usage times. Our current storage solution involves direct-attached storage, which, while effective, seems to be limiting our scalability and responsiveness.

We are considering transitioning to a SAN to centralize our storage management and improve I/O performance. I've read that SANs can significantly enhance performance for virtual environments by allowing multiple hosts to access storage simultaneously. This could potentially reduce the latency we’ve been experiencing.

Here are a few questions I have for the community:

1. Best Practices: What are the best practices for integrating a SAN with Citrix environments? Are there specific configurations or setups that have worked well for you?
2. Vendor Recommendations: Are there particular SAN vendors or models that you would recommend based on your experiences? We are looking for a solution that balances performance, reliability, and cost.
3. Monitoring Tools: What monitoring tools do you use to assess the performance of your SAN in relation to Citrix? Any insights on how to effectively gauge improvements after the integration would be greatly appreciated.
