Users experience slow connections when direct connected, faster over netscaler

We have 1 site where users are complaining that when they connect to https://citrix.<clientname>.com (connection through Delivery Controller / StoreFront that opening Excel 365 etc that i can last up to 2 - 3 minutes.

When they connect to https://desktop.<clientname>.com the will connect to the SAME VM'S however now the connection goes over Internet to the Netscaler and user logs in through netscaler.

 

Now the session is much more responsive.

That smells like some sort of dirty network config -> in the scenario StoreFront returns the ICA file which will send the client direct to the VDA (typically), so the problem tends to lie between the endpoint and the VDA

Could be down to things like UDP (Adaptive Transport etc)
