Question

Hello,

It's probably more of a VMware question.

We currently have a VDI proof of concept with Windows 10 and NVIDIA L40 cards. There are three VMware ESXi hosts for it. These three hosts are to be integrated into an existing cluster.

Is it possible to group these three hosts in the cluster so that VMs for the VDI poc are not created on other hosts without NVIDIA cards?

Best regards
Timo

It can be done, but you are right that it's more of a VMware question.   I think I would create the machines as normal, then once they exist, you can configure host affinity rules in VMware to ensure those particular VMs will only run on one of the hosts with the GPUs installed.

We have done similar in the past with a large VMware cluster, to ensure certain machines remained pinned to specific hosts for licensing reasons.
