Sven Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Hi @ All. we need a Solution to route all Mails from and to Outside our Maildomain through an SMTP Relay, which belongs to us. We are not direct connected to the Internet. So we have to use a Smarthost by out Network Provider. The Smarthost allows only one Source and Traget for Maildelivery. To have more flexibility on our side and with our "mail chain", we want to use static Source and Targets, so that we are able to make chances on our side without any need for interaction, like the approvment of new targets / sources on providers smarthost. For Incoming Mails we use a NetScaler SMTP LB as Relay, which works fine. Now we have to do this for Outgoning Mails. At this time we have no idea if this is also job for NetScaler? and if, how to configue? I'm not sure if it is a good idea to use a new SMTP LB which uses the external Smarthost? Hope i could clearly explain our issue. Regards, Sven
Solution Michael Adam Posted September 11 Solution Posted September 11 Hello @Sven pf course you can do that also with outgoing SMTP. You can create an internal vServer which will be used from you mailing system. Then the SNIP communicates in direction to your mail provider. Use here a ServerObject with the public FQDN of your provider Mailserver. But what are the benefits of this configuration? The loadbalacing mechanism is needed on the mail provider side and not on yours. If you are not connected directly to the Internet this could be a solution. But maybe your firewall or similar can do that better/easies for you. Regards, Michael
Sven Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 Hi Michel, many thanks for your quick replay. The benefits for us is, that we can do changes on our site without the need of interaction with our extrenal mail provider. For example: we will have a (IP) change on our sending or recieving system (a new secure mail appliance will be installed) then we have to contact the provider for a change request. this takes ressources on both sites we do no have. In Simply words, we want to have a static IP Connection between us and the provider so we are able to change things in our Mailsystems. Hope it is clearly explaint. We will discuss both, the Netscaler LB and the Firewall Solution. Many Thanks. Sven
Ken Z Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Hi Sven there are loads of free SMTP relays out there that will do the job and will give you the control you need. I personally use EFA (https://efa-project.org). It also do AV and spam filtering as well, and is free. This one also supports Smarthosts. Regards Ken Z
