VDA trying to register with OLD DDCs despite updated GPO settings

Aaron Haddon

Question

We have an odd issue and trying to find the culprit.  Hoping someone else has ran into this and can help us out.

Our environment is pretty straight forward, nothing crazy, and only 1 zone configured.  Running 2203 latest CU.

We recently replaced two delivery controllers with two new delivery controllers.  We have confirmed and tested they both work and are functional.  We removed the old ones from the site and now only the two new ones are shown, which is what we want.

The issue is that the VDA's are still showing and trying to register to the old DDCs.  In GPO we have set the registry key "ListofDDCs" at HKLM/Software/Citrix/VirtualDesktopAgent to point to the new DDCs, which we can see is being updated in the registry on the VDA and shows the correct NEW DDCs.

However, when you navigate to HKLM/Software/Policies/Citrix/VirtualDesktopAgent there is also a "ListofDDCs" registry key that list the OLD controllers and seems to take precedence over the above mentioned registry key.  We have tipple and quadrupled checked that this registry path is NOT being set in group policy.  We have deleted the key containing the OLD controllers, as well as modified the key to match what the key in GPO shows.   However, doing a restart of the Citrix Desktop Service on the VDA re-adds the key back with the OLD controllers in it.

Any help on places we can look would be greatly appreciated as this has us completely stumped.

Hi

have you got anything that might be running a script that sets that registry key?

This might be a computer startup script that looks innocuous but contains a line of code that sets this?

Or maybe a group policy preference?

Regards
