Citrix ADC / Gateway with ESET Secure Authentication as Radius -> Problem with passwords containing german Umlaute (ä, ü, ö)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

we are using Citrix ADC / Gateway with ESET Secure Authentication as Radius. We are experencieng problems with passwords containing german Umlaute (ä, ö, ü). ADC is configured to only use Radius for password as first factor and radius challenge as second factor. Had a support ticket with ESET and they say it is a common problem with radius and shared secret / password hashing. Asked them if it is a problem with their radius implementation or a commom radius problem or specific with their radius and Citrix ADC. Unfortunately they answered with a definitly maybe however no clear answer.

Do you have radius implementations with the same issue or would you say it is ESET releated?

"Workaround" or maybe better option would be to add ldap policy as first factor and use radius only as second factor. This is working just fine in a test setup.

Thanks,
Jan
