Workspace App -- Auto-update version control

Chad Humphry

Per https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-workspace-app-for-windows/about.html#auto-update-version-control auto-update version control is new in Workspace app 2212 and is done by setting a property in the Global App Config Service.

Our controllers and StoreFront servers are on-prem.  What do we need, to be able to use the Global App Config Service?

How do we make Workspace App get/retrieve settings from the Global App Config Service?

Are the registry values 'Version Maximum' and 'Version Minimum' in HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Citrix\ICA Client\Engine\Configuration used for auto-update version control?

To use Global App Config Service, you need an active Citrix Cloud subscription.

Se info here: https://developer.cloud.com/citrixworkspace/server-integration/global-app-configuration-service/docs/getting-started

To use the Global App Configuration Service REST APIs, Citrix Cloud customers must have:

a Citrix Cloud account and a cloud entitlement

I've wrote an blog article about it: https://vdnieuwenhof.eu/global-app-configuration-service/

Based on the recent developments, please note that upon onboarding to Citrix Cloud, any customer can leverage Global App Config Service today without a cloud entitlement. This allows on-premises customers to onboard to the service as well. Such customers need to leverage the APIs for the time being - https://developer.cloud.com/citrixworkspace/server-integration/global-app-configuration-service/docs/getting-started
