generating the CSR for the wildcard certificate extra symbol getting added to CN name

Recommended Posts

For *.stva.com, we need create a wildcard certificate. However, when running the command below to create the CSR file, the CN name is appended as \*.stva.com rather than *.stva.com. Although we provide the correct CN name (*.stva.com), the extra symbol (\) is added automatically in both CLI and GUI, which we tried. Could someone please check this problem for me?

Command used  : create ssl certreq stva-new5wilcard-2023.csr -keyfile stva-wildcard-2023.key -keyform PEM -PEMPassPhrase 12345 -countryName FR -stateName Paris -localityName Paris  -commonName *.stva.com -organizationName Groupecat -organizationUnitName IT -digestMethod SHA256

root@ns# openssl req -text -noout -verify -in stva-new5-wilcard-2023.csr

verify OK
