XenServer and Windows Server 2008 R2

Bill Artemik

We have a client running a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine on XenServer. The host XenServer fried. We are upgrading hardware and want to use a newer version of XenServer (8.2?) but we don't see support for Server 2008 R2 for 8.2. Will it RUN on 8.2? We would like to do an OS upgrade but we can't right now until we restore the backup to the new VM host.

Will the 2008 R2 machine RUN under 8.2? If not, what is the latest version that supports 2008 R2? And what should the upgrade path look like once we restore the 2008 R2? We are thinking server 2019 or later as the target system.
