UPM does not sync with logon name longer than 8 characters

René Arendt

i have a old 7.15 CU3 citrix infrastructure with profile management 7.15 CU8.

Right now we experience issues with active directy users that have a logon name longer than 8 characters.
The issue is that even though the users get a profile there is no data synced.

The directory path is lower than 248 characters.

In the UPM log files we can find something like this:

ERROR;Test-Domain;Username123;CJitThreadInfo::SaveChangedFiles: failed to copy 'C:\Users\Userna~1\DOCUME~1\Data\Data.ini' to the userstore. Error 0x7b: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

Anyone has an idea?

This is an old request but might be useful for other persons.

Can you first make sure you upgrade your environment to a supported version.

Can you please try the following Microsoft reg key :

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem Value Name: NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation

Set the VALUE TO " 1" - Disable 8dot3 name creation on all volumes on the system

The value we recommend testing is '1' to prevent short name issues. Here are the other values as well:

0 - Enable 8dot3 name creation on all volumes on the system

1 - Disable 8dot3 name creation on all volumes on the system

2 - Set 8dot3 name creation on a per volume basis

3 - Disable 8dot3 name creation on all volumes except the system volume.
