Update master image in different hosts

Teddy Leung

2 hosts under 2 vCenters under existing environment.

Since each host have their master image and machine catalog.

Actually 2 images update same thing. If I need to update master image, currently I will update each master image like Windows Update of program update, etc.

I think the master must be found in the Citrix Hosting Resource (vCenter + Cluster).

Hi Carl,

Yes, its been found in Citrix Hosting Recourse.

May be let me try to ask my question more detail.

  • vCenter 1 -- Master image VM 1 -- Machine catalog 1
  • vCenter 2 -- Master image VM 2 -- Machine catalog 2

Currently I need to update master image (like Windows update or application update) for VM 1 and VM 2 then use each snap-shot to update machine catalog.

Therefore I have to update for twice times for each machine catalog.

I would like to know, can I just update master image VM 1, then use this updated snap-shot  to update Machine catalog 2 ?

If both Catalogs can see the snapshot, then yes.

Hi Carl,

But VM 1 and VM 2 have their own snap-shot (not share same snap-shot), then I think need to update 2 times for 2 catalogs.

Or can I clone VM 1 to vCenter 2, then use VM 1 to replace Machine catalog 2 ?
