System Center Virtual Machine Manager upgrade- impact on Citrix infrastructure

Mariusz Terelak

Our XenApp/XenDesktop 7.15 environment is connected to SCVMM 2012R2 with Hyper-V hosts .We need to perform upgrade from SCVMM 2012 R2 to SCVMM 2016, it will require uninstalling SCVMM R2 2012 from old servers and then installing it on the new ones. There aren’t going to be any changes in IPs, server names, etc… So for some time there will be no VMM service.

Therefore I would have the following questions- perhaps somebody has come across such a case

* is it possible to replace SCVMM 2012 R2 servers with SCVMM 2016 ( with the same IP, hostname , migrated DB) while keeping the same connection in citrix studio or it requires deleting an old connection and creating a new one in studio

* will the users be able to logon to VDIs considering the fact that - there will be no VMM and VDIs will be turned on

Thanks for any support I can get
