wfica advertises -span but does not recognize it

Xavier Cartier

As far as I know, wfica has long advertised a -span option, that enables one to specify which monitors the Citrix session should span:

$ /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica -h 2>&1 | grep span
       -span [h][o][a|mon1[,m2[,m3,m4]]] Set monitor spanning of full-screen sessions.

For instance, one could run wfica -span 2,3 and Citrix would directly start on monitors #2 and #3.

This is documented here: https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-workspace-app-for-linux/troubleshooting.html#session-span

It used to work fine. I think it stopped working somewhere around

Since then, using -span 2,3 yields these error messages (see attached screenshots):

  • The option "-span" is invalid.
  • The option "2,3" is invalid.

... and of course the Citrix session spans all three monitors.

At this stage, the problem can be worked around:

  1. exit full screen
  2. move the Citrix session window in the middle of monitors #2 and #3
  3. click full screen again

... and the Citrix session will span monitors #2 and #3 as expected.

So, this is not a blocking problem, far from it, but it would still be nice to fix the -span option for a seamless day-to-day experience.

All of this was freshly checked using icaclient_21.12.0.18_amd64.deb on Debian Buster.
