Citrix Workspace installation hangs due to failed GenericUSB installation

Ed Reed

Question

Silent install of Citrix Workspace, from a Windows MDT deployment task sequence, hangs due to failed installation of the GenericUSB component. See the attach log for the GenericUSB component. The installation process does not continue after this error and the only way to get out of it is to restart the computer. I've found no reference to this specifically in numerous google searches. I've found plenty of references to deployments hanging when there's no interaction with the desktop but this is not that problem. In this case, you can interact with it all you want and the installation will not continue after this. Anyone have any ideas? Is there any way to omit the GenericUSB component? According to one source, via commandline parameters, it's possible to include the USB component but there doesn't seem to be a way to exclude it. For that mater, according to the same source, USB isn't a default item to install anyway, yet it's still crashing here.
