15 seconds of downtime after a Failover

Recommended Posts

During a force failover of a VPX between 2 SDX, my customer loose connectivity for about 15 seconds.

It's not the end of the world but my remote customer uses AlwaysON VPN and it's quite disturbing.

Do you have a solution or a workaround regarding this? How to configure what's synchronized between 2 nodes? Car we synchronize UDP sessions between 2 nodes?

ℹ️ Regarding network switches, my interfaces has portfast configured

Thank you for your help

Best Regards

Maybe take a look at https://discussions.citrix.com/topic/386593-ha-force-failover/ as it covers some of what you've asked, in terms of what is synchronised etc.

Maybe have a look at connection failover also - https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-adc/current-release/load-balancing/load-balancing-protect-configuration/connection-failover.html

What are they doing that loses the connectivity? ICA sessions? VPN sessions? HTTP connection via a LoadBalancer?

By default, when there is an HA failover, then (unless the TCP connection mirroring is set up) the client needs to reconnect to the second ADC....  The VPN client and the ICA client will both automatically reconnect.... and that will indeed take a few seconds.

We need more info to give a more helpful response.
