Adobe functionality does not work in Xenapp application

Ken Krause

We are running Xenapp 7.15 on a Windows 2012 R2 server. One of our applications is a Microsoft Dynamics GP custom app that requires Adobe DC. The application makes calls to DC at certain times, mostly when printing to PDF. The Dynamics GP application is being run on an application server and Adobe is also installed there. When we try to run the print jobs within the GP app, it hangs and eventually gives an error regarding Adobe licensing. Our users have Adobe licenses, so that part is covered. However, if the same user logs into the application server remotely through RDP (not Citrix) and runs the application in that manner, everything works fine.

Through troubleshooting we found that the Acrotray.exe application kicks off at login during the RDP sessions but it doesn't load when accessing the app via Citrix. We believe this is the key to the Adobe printing issues but can't find a solution. We've tried placing the Acrotray into each users' startup profile, but that hasn't helped. Has anyone come across a similar situation?
