VMware Horizon compatibility with BLAST protocol

Question

I just had a verly long case with VMware and just want to let you know, that there is a compatibility issue, if you use BLAST protocol.

After installing the horizon agent, these UDP port ranges are excluded:

49152-49167

49168-49183

49184-49199

49200-49215

You can see those by running this command with elevated rights after installing the horizon agent:

netsh interface ipv4 show excludedportrange udp

After publishing an image only containing OS Layer and Platform Layer, that configuration is dropped.

In fact, it is already dropped from the Platform Layer when finalizing it.

In our case, this causes BLAST sessions to run in fallback mode and only use TCP.

A workaround for this is to configure this after the image is published, then take a snapshot and use that one for the pool by running this command for every port range required:

netsh interface ipv4 add excludedportrange udp 49152 16 persistent

@Rob:

Would be nice to fix this on the long run ?

/Chris
