Published Application Session Timer

Tim Hadlock

I am wondering if the article below is still correct? Can you not set idle session timers to applications only virtual desktops?

If this article still applies then I guess I have to use and Active Directory GPO to apply these same settings?

We are running:

  • Citrix Version: 2012
  • Windows 2016
  • Published Apps Only

Also, what determines the disconnect, Idle-time (based on policy)  the VDA I assume completes the reset of the connection via the ICA listener?

Yes, thank you Carl.

We have those settings in place but seems to be getting sessions that just suddenly get removed from the session.

I haven't been able to see what is causing this ended sessions.

We do have a GPO that disconnects sessions after 6 hours but the account I have been using is purposely denied access to those settings or that GPO.

The session removals are all over the board and most are before the six hour timeout.

Is there an area where I should be looking that might note why a session was removed?

I have looked at the Event logs on the VDA but I'm not finding much.

I'm assuming the WorkSpace App wouldn't have detailed information on the session removal.

I have run RSOP multiple times and there are no timeout settings being applied to the account I am using and the timeout settings are in the User section of the GPO.
