XenServer 6.5 VM Export to Xenserver 8.2 Pool Issues with Linux VM's going Read Only

Nick Gorbikoff

Question

We have a Xen Server 6.5 Pool using an NFS share on a Synology Rackstation for VM storage.  We are trying to migrate to a new XenServer 8.2 pool we setup with an identical Synology Rackstation and NFS share for VM storage.  Configuration  is the same for each pool.  We exported the VM's from the old pool to an XVA format and then imported on the new pool.  Everything worked flawlessly at first, but we noticed later that week that the Linux VM's switched to read only file system, breaking our CUPS print server for example.  Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?  Not sure why it would have been working fine and then all of the sudden switch to read only.  Windows VM's have had no issues, just the Ubuntu ones.

Just a guess that it going read only means problems with the filesystem. What that could be would probably specific to Linux since your Windows VM's seem fine.

Hopefully some log files can give you some insight. I'd throw another flavor of Linux at it for comparison.
