Syslog flooded with Failed to connect with logd messages

km22hk

Question

I have a new installation of Raspberry Pi OS on a 8GB Raspberry Pi 4B.

I installed the latest Citrix Workspace debian package and am able to connect to my office remote desktop successfully.

However, my /var/log/syslog file is getting a constant flood of messages every second resulting in continual flow of data being constantly stored to the sdcard.

The syslog messages are typically like this:

citrix-pi-greeter[695]: Failed to connect with logd.

citrix-AppProtectionService[440]: Failed to connect with logd.

citrix-lightdm[680]: Failed to connect with logd.

citrix-Xorg[627]: Failed to connect with logd.

citrix-python3[558]: Failed to connect with logd.

How can I understand what is causing these messages and either fix or suppress the issue?

I have the same problem on Ubuntu 21.04. My syslog folder has grown to 12.5 GB in two weeks.

Apr 18 01:40:17 ... citrix-gnome-shell[3685]: Failed to connect with logd.
Apr 18 01:40:17 ... citrix-gnome-shell[3685]: message repeated 9 times: [ Failed to connect with logd.]
Apr 18 01:40:17 ... citrix-java[4399]: Failed to connect with logd.
Apr 18 01:40:17 ... citrix-gnome-shell[3685]: Failed to connect with logd.

I am using "icaclient_21.1.0.14_amd64.deb"

I'm experiencing the same issue. /var/userlog and /var/syslog is flooded with entries from

 citrix-xxxx[xxx]:Failed to connect with logd.

Running on Debian 10 with last bpo kernel

5.10.0-0.bpo.5-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.24-1~bpo10+1 (2021-03-29) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Citrix Workspace for Linux
Version  21.3.0.38

I try to configure the logging with 'opt/Citrix/ICAClient/util/setlog' module but it "supposedly" doesn't point any logging to /var/user.log...

This has been resolved for me, did remove and update to new version of the Citrix Workspace.

Cheers
