Many VDA gradually restarted after Controller No.2 restart all citrix service.

Question

Hi

I found serious problem. I don't know reason and how to protect this issue on next time.

My Environment on Virtual App and Virtual Desktop 7.15 CU2

- Controller 2 VMs

-VDA : VDAs (Windows 2012: Virtual App Only) about 200 VMs and same version 7.15CU2 with Controller

-Use MCS with all VDAs

- Hosting : Vmware

---------------------------

Problem:

I monitored Citrix Director and found controller No.2 down state to Offline and when checked Citrix Director that all VDA register with Controller No.1 Only.

So I have checked VM at Controller No.2 . to step at below.

- VM is power on status

- At Service screen that Citrix Services are running but don't have any connection with VDAs

- CPU and Memory are normal working.

----------------

My workaround Step

-restarted Citrix Broker Service but fail and stopping state

-kill process to Citrix Broker Service

- Restart Other Citrix Services except Ctrix Broker Service.

- and Restart Citrix Broker Service again and it 's OK to work.

- when I open Dashboard at Citrix Studio. I found Conttoller No.2 display Online status. It seen to be OK but.....

Many VMs (VDA) are restarting eventhrough users are using Applications on those VM. It seem force to close sessions and restart VMs.

I don't know how to stop restart VMs due to effect with many users

So I have shutdown Controller No.2

I understood that VDAs are re-registering with Controller No.2 but it should not restart VM, right?

-------------------------

My Question:

 1. Why do VMs restart after I have restart all Citrix Service on Controller No.2?

I do not know process for this issue?

2. If I select to restart Controller No.2 instead restart all citrix services. It will happen this problem or not?

3. How to protect to found this issue for next event if found some Controller failed or offline status, again?

It 's not ok if many users kicked thier sessions as running applications.

Hi!

Had a similar issue recently at a customers site, the blame was that they had updated vmware and vmware tools on the VDA machines,

Is that true in your environment? we were not able to reproduce the issue.
