VDI launch from on prem

Our company is currently undertaking a VDI migration initiative; thus, we would like to all users going fwd to only log in to their VDI regardless of whether they are on-site or working remotely.

We are looking to convert all the existing desktops to a thin client type images with the existing windows 10 licence.

We are looking to achieve a simple, user-friendly login whereby when the user is on-site to windows 10 workstation, the VDI will launch automatically.

Has anyone have an idea or have implemented something similar

Many thin client vendors can convert them to Linux devices and manage then centrally.

 

For Windows, there's Citrix Desktop Lock, Citrix WEM Transformer, or ThinKiosk.

Desktop Lock is very basic. It installs on top of Workspace app. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-workspace-app-for-windows/workspace-windows-desktop-lock.html

 

Transformer is based on an older version of ThinKiosk. I have some info at https://www.carlstalhood.com/workspace-environment-management/#transformer

I believe there is a direction to remove desktop lock in favour of transformer - but I am not sure if that is officially documented

Currently we dont utilise single sign on for Citrix Can i user transformer without single signon? desktop lock requires single signon
