How to migrate Virtual Apps (XenApp ) 7 1912 Site Database to new SQL server

Larry Schroeder

Question

We are preparing to move our seven different Virtual Apps sites to new SQL servers. We are running 7 1912 U2. Nothing is mirrored. I was able to find some documentation to move the Logging and Monitoring DB's. It was pretty straightforward to do in our lab environment. I had found a post about moving 7.15, but I am not sure if it all applies to 1912. Could someone point me to the basic steps to follow for moving the Site DB?

Thanks,

Larry

You can backup the database and restore it on the new SQL server. Then add SQL logins corresponding to the computer accounts for your Delivery Controllers and grant them specific roles in the restored database. Then run PowerShell commands on the Delivery Controllers to point them to the new SQL server. https://www.carlstalhood.com/delivery-controller-1912-ltsr-and-licensing/#changedbstrings

Thanks for the quick response Carl. Since the Logging and Monitoring DB's are already moved, should I just omit the lines in the scripts, or is it best to reset them all.

The Logging Service connects to the Site database to find the location of the Logging database. You still need to point the Logging Service to the new location of the Site database.

The Monitoring Service connects to the Site database to find the location of the Monitoring database. You still need to point the Monitoring Service to the new location of the Site database.
