Citrix Workspace published app "File Explorer" file transfer results in connection interrupted

At one of our customers we have a longstanding problem I can't get my head around.

The customer uses a Citrix Workspace solution offered by a SaaS provider focused on financial administration.


Every once and a while the customer needs to upload files (mostly Excel spreadsheets) to a drive made available within the Citrix Session.

So the SaaS provider offered a solution which has a published app called "Windows File Explorer" which allows the customer to copy and paste files between de local computer and the remote computer the SaaS solution is running.


When the customer does the file transfer on his own local laptop they experience no issues whatsoever. The file transfer starts immediately and is finished when the files are copied. However on our Remote Desktop Server environment each file transfer, no matter the size immediately causes the Citrix Workspace application to freeze for several minutes, resulting in the following message: Connection Interrupted.


I have already tried to troubleshoot different scenarios. We have started with a vanilla fresh installed Windows server, free of group policy objects. I've disabled the Windows Firewall, all with no luck.

I cannot discover the issue, seeing no differences in operating system or other software that might interfere with this behavior.


The SaaS provider uses SafeNet to issue some certificates during working with the application but I don't see any relation to this issue.
