Service Account Change Issue

We recently changed our service account that we use for our citrix XA/Xd environment in controller(hosting), PVS via the wizard and web config. When I go to reset password on old service account to confirm nothing is using it, after about 10 minutes storefront does not show any apps and get generic apps not available message. I change old account password back to what it was and all is good. The only thing left i can see is the account is in sql yet but we gave the new account all the same access per our sql person.  I opened a case with citrix and they are working their sweet time trying to figure it our so figured id check on here. They suggested removing the old account from sql but a little hesitent about it and not sure its tied to that. Is there anything embedded when you install citrix or bind the cert that holds on to the ad account? I can see in cdf traces its still calling that account under the xmlbrokerservices.
