WYSE 5070 – MS TEAMS CITRIX POLICIES

Abteilung EDV

Question

Hi,

I’m wondering which Citrix policy settings are the right one for audio video redirection for MS Teams. USB thumb drive should be NOT redirected

we are testing the follwing settings (Citrix 1912 LTSR CU1):

– Audio over UDP ->Allowed
– Audio Plug N Play -> Allowed
– Client audio redirection -> Allowed
– Client microphone redirectin -> Allowed
– Client USB device redirection -> Allowed
– Client USB Plug and Play device redirection -> Allowed
– Microsoft Teams redirection -> Allowed
– Client removable drives -> Prohibited

We noticed that with this settings USB thumb drive are still mapped. We need only audio / video for MS Teams, all other connected USB devices should be disabled

any help would be greatly appreciated,

beste regards,

If you know they will always be in optimized mode then you only need this really:

– Microsoft Teams redirection -> Allowed

However, it's better to plan for scenarios where audio is actually needed in VDA as well:

 – Audio over UDP ->Allowed
– Audio Plug N Play -> Allowed
– Client audio redirection -> Allowed
– Client microphone redirectin -> Allowed
– Client USB device redirection -> > Prohibited
– Client USB Plug and Play device redirection ->> Prohibited
– Microsoft Teams redirection -> Allowed
– Client removable drives -> Prohibited

- Generic USB redirection -> Disabled

Hi,

ok, tried the settings and made a connection

– with Wyse 5070 ThinOS 9.0.4024 / Citrx 2006_1146
– to our Citrix Server (Citrix 1912 LTSR CU2) / Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter
– with Teams vor VDI 1.3.00.28779

Dell WMS: Global Session Settings -> Exclude audio devices / video devices

results:
– in the taskbar the speaker symbol is inactive (no audio device detected)
– MS Teams runs in HDX optimized mode
– Headset (Jabra 930) and Webcam (Logitec 925e) visible in MS Teams settings

Problem: still not able to make any audio or video call to other Teams members

questions:
– what are the correct Dell 5070 settings for MS Teams?
– is it normal that in the taskbar no audio device will be detected?
– if not, what should be visible in the taskbar (Citrix HDX audio or Jabra 930)?

best regards,

I have a similar setup, with 5070s running the same software versions.   My headset shows up as 'Citrix HDX Audio' in Windows (ie the volume control in the system tray), but in Optimized mode, Teams makes it own connection back to the thin client and should show the proper device names.   These terminals run Workspace for Linux 2006 which doesn't provide the option to view multiple audio devices within Windows taskbar, only the default one will work, and will shows up as HDX audio.

Teams now has the ability to make a Test Call, even when running in Optimized mode.   Does this work for you?

Dell should have access to CWA linux 2010 - please check with them.

You are right, but them having access and them making it available to customers are two different things - even those with an NDA in place for exactly this sort of thing.

It's like getting blood from a stone out of them sometimes.
