Citrix Virtual Apps - Updating Image

Tej Rana

I am new to App Essentials. I used a Citrix prepared image to create a catalog and publish basic apps like Calculator, etc. The catalog has created two VMs, one of which is active at the moment. I want to update the image.

In azure, I found 3 images inside the storage account that was created by the catalog under the folder "citrix-image". There is one more image under the "citrix-vhd" folder. On the Citrix console when I browse  for a list of images and point to this storage account I see all four images. First off, why are there four images? I was expecting only one.

Now I want to update the VM with a new image.

I am guessing I need to -

  1. Remote into the active VM
  2. Install my app
  3. Look for the new image based on last modified date time?

We have an image builder feature in essentials called image builder that allows you to create new images based upon ones imported into the system. Just go to create a new builder image and select the existing imported image you want to start with. The system will provision a new VM that you can RDP into to make the changes. When you are done, finalize the image and then update the catalog.
