Issues with Outlook 2016 Search on a CVAD 7.15 LTSR CU5 Citrix PVS VDA with Server 2012 R2 and FSLogix

Marc Kuhn

Question

Hi Guys

i have a customer with a CVAD 7.15 LTSR CU5 environment based on Server 2016, except the VDA's, they are Server 2012 R2. We have Outlook 2016 installed and implemented FSLogix 2004 (2.9.7349.30108)  just a few days again.

We have Outlook configured in Cache-Mode to have it faster and probably better working with MS CRM Dynamics Outlook Add-In. I have configured in the FSLogix GPO:

We have troubles with the Outlook 2016 Search with that setup, it is in the own mailbox as well in the second mailbox configuriert in Outlook (Sharedmailbox) . In the FSLogix Log i can see that:

[06:59:15.094][tid:00001e48.00002810][INFO]             Configuration setting not found: SOFTWARE\FSLogix\Profiles\OutlookCachedMode.  Using default: 1

[06:59:15.094][tid:00001e48.00002810][INFO]             Outlook cached mode policy rule added

[06:59:15.094][tid:00001e48.00002810][INFO]             Configuration Read (DWORD): SOFTWARE\FSLogix\Apps\RoamSearch.  Data: 2

[06:59:15.094][tid:00001e48.00002810][INFO]             Configuration setting not found: SOFTWARE\Policies\FSLogix\ODFC\RoamSearch.  Using default: 0

[06:59:15.094][tid:00001e48.00002810][INFO]             Configuration Read (DWORD): SOFTWARE\FSLogix\Profiles\RoamSearch.  Data: 2

[06:59:15.094][tid:00001e48.00002810][INFO]             Multi-user Search is enabled

[06:59:15.094][tid:00001e48.00002810][INFO]             Search DB will be stored in the Profile

[06:59:15.094][tid:00001e48.00002810][INFO]             Configuration setting not found: SOFTWARE\FSLogix\Profiles\EnableSpecialRoamingProfile.  Using default: 0

Also there is a db for each user in AppData/Roaming/FSLogix/WSearch. When i tried to search with that setup, there where no results. As soon as i configure this regkey:

Software\Policies\Microsoft\office\16.0\outlook\search]
"DisableServerAssistedSearch"=dword:00000000

It is basically working, but the users receive a message, that the search results are not all. When they click on the link "more" than they receive the correct results:

On the bottom of the search results i see this:

First i had an issue that the Windows Search Service wasn't running when the FSLogix App Service was starting. This caused me to configure the FSLogix App Service to start "Automatic (Delayed)". As soon as i have this one configured, the User Search DB's were configured correctly.

Does anybody have something similar or have a good hint, how to resolve that issue?

Many thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Marc

Hi James

sorry for the late reply. We discovered some strange issues when havening Outlook in Cache Mode. Our idea was, that we would have a more stable Outlook CRM Dynamics-Add-In, which isn't the case even with the Cache Mode.

So i configured Outlook in Online Mode again, since then we don't have any issues any more.

Best regards,

Marc
