Weird keyboard behavior: Mac > VDI > RDP Windows Server

Bastian Forster

Question

Hi Community,

we are currently facing a weird keyboard behavior in our environment.

We are running a 7.15 LTSR and a 1912 LTSR (with PVS) and want to fully shift to 1912 soon.
At the moment Mac users on the 1912 image are facing this:

Connecting to a Windows 10 VDI - inside the VDI everything works totally well!
Making a connection to a Windows Server using RDP also is good, but with one exception:

Typing \ or @ seems to be nearly impossible!
Using opt+shift+7 results in a "ß" sign
Using opt+L results in a "q" sign

If you hold opt and press L (or hold opt+shift and press 7) multiple times in a row it looks like this:

qqqq@@qqq
ßßßß\\ßß\ßß

Compared to the 7.15LTSR it also isn't perfect but I found a workaround for this:

Typing \ using opt+shift+control+7 leads into a \ which is not great, but it works!

The OS X language is German and the Windows 10 or Server (2012, 2016, 2019) language is English.

I don't think it's a Windows related issue because the only difference in these scenarios is the VDA installed on the image.

Any tipps or hints are highly appreciated!

Cheers

Bastian
